Planning your insulation work

Attic Blow-In Insulation

How do I know if my attic needs more insulation?

Uneven coverage, exposed framing and uncomfortable upstairs rooms are reasons to request an assessment. Existing material, depth and condition must be checked before deciding how much to add.

How long does attic insulation take?

Timing depends on area, access, preparation and any removal or repairs. Ask for a project-specific installation window in your quote.

Attic Over Blow-In Enhancement

Can new insulation go over old insulation?

It can be appropriate when the existing material is dry, usable and compatible with the planned assembly. Damaged or suspect material needs assessment first.

Will more insulation stop drafts?

More coverage can slow heat transfer, but air leakage needs separate sealing. Discuss both when asking for an attic top-up.

Exterior Wall Dense Packing

What is dense-pack insulation?

Loose-fill material is installed into enclosed cavities at the density specified for that product and application. It differs from loose material spread across an open attic.

Will you need holes in my walls?

Installation needs access to the cavities. The location and repair method depend on the wall and should be explained before work begins.

Garage Wall Batt Insulation

Will insulation heat my garage?

No. It can reduce heat transfer, but temperature also depends on weather, air leakage and any heating or cooling system.

Can this help a room above the garage?

It may be part of the solution; the floor above the garage and air leaks also need assessment.

Thermal Imaging and Air Sealing

Does thermal imaging see through walls?

No. It displays surface temperature differences, which can suggest areas for further investigation.

How is air sealing different from insulation?

Air sealing closes leakage paths. Insulation slows heat transfer through building assemblies. They often complement one another.
